Localizing and Imaging Solid Objects

چکیده
A bsfracf-Ultrasonic holographic imaging holds the potential for recognizing object contours in two-dimensional or three-dimensional space. The theory of both the monofrequency and multifrequency modes of the method, as suitable for the requirements of object recognition in robot assembly tasks, is described. The theory was implemented experimentally. Results obtained show that the monofrequency approach provides fairly good lateral but insufficient depth resolution. By contrast, with multifrequency holography, depth resolutions of better than 3 mm and lateral resolutions of about 10 mm are attainable. New ultrasonic transducers, combined with a special signal preprocessing procedure, are a prerequisite for resolutions of this order. Typical images as obtained from several test scenes are presented. Suitable applications and possible future research are briefly outlined.

متن کاملStructured illumination enhances resolution and contrast in thick tissue fluorescence imaging.
We introduce a noncontact imaging method utilizing multifrequency structured illumination for improving lateral and axial resolution and contrast of fluorescent molecular probes in thick, multiple-scattering tissue phantoms. The method can be implemented rapidly using a spatial light modulator and a simple image demodulation scheme similar to structured light microscopy in the diffraction regim...
متن کاملObject Recognition Using Tactile Array Sensors
In this dissertation, we explore the use of tactile force sensors to understand properties of the surfaces of objects they are pressed against. We develop a model of such sensors as imaging devices, which facilitates the use of techniques from computer vision and image processing with the “tactile images” they provide. The goal is object recognition, and three approaches are presented for disti...
